Our Mission Statement

UELS supports its members from the moment they join our legal community through to graduation and beyond. We support our members through law school with academic, careers and welfare events, and provide an array of extra-curricular activities such as advocacy, mooting, intramural sport and pro-bono volunteering. We also have a packed social calendar with our Spring and Winter balls and our fortnightly socials which allow our members to develop relationships with law and non-law students alike.

Our core aim is to make entering the legal profession as accessible as possible. Through our numerous partnerships with top law firms, chambers, legal businesses and non-legal enterprises alike, we offer a range of exciting networking events, such as our annual Careers and Bar Dinners. Our careers team collaborates with law firms to put on employability events and workshops, and our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion sub-committee spearheads numerous initiatives and puts on events to ensure that our society is welcoming for all.

UELS membership provides a number of additional perks, including our exclusive discounts at local businesses around Exeter, and our branded UELS merchandise is widely recognised across campus.
